LEVERAGING OUTSTANDING ADVANTAGES

Hai Phong Port City possesses all elements to develop the logistics service industry and become the logistics hub of the Northern region, featuring all 5 transportation modes: maritime, inland waterway, railway, roadway, and aviation, along with a favorable seaport system.

Among these, one of the foremost and outstanding advantages is the seaport system, encompassing 50 terminal wharves, accounting for 17.5% of Vietnam’s port wharves and 73% of the Red River Delta’s seaports.

Wharves No. 1 and No. 2 of the deep-sea port at Lach Huyen, put into commercial operation since 2018, can accommodate vessels exceeding 130,000 DWT, directly connecting goods from Hai Phong to continents across the world.

GROWTH RATE

The growth rate of logistics services in Hai Phong City reaches approximately 20-23% annually, contributing 13-15% to the port city’s GRDP. Cargo throughput via ports is growing strongly, capturing an increasingly substantial market share in the nation’s seaport system.

Concurrently, seaport infrastructure is upgraded and invested synchronously and modernly, aligning with regional and international maritime transport development trends; the connecting transportation network is continuously improved and synchronized.

Currently, the entire city of Hai Phong has approximately 250 enterprises operating in the logistics services sector, including around 30 multinational logistics corporations such as DHL, UPS, and FedEx.

Across Hai Phong City, there are currently 14 industrial zones actively engaged in investment, construction, and infrastructure operations with a total area exceeding 6,131 ha (9 industrial zones located within the Dinh Vu – Cat Hai Economic Zone and 5 industrial zones outside the economic zone)…

DEVELOPING INDUSTRIAL PARKS BASED ON LOGISTICS PLATFORMS

Several industrial parks have been developed based on logistics platforms to enhance logistics connectivity and interaction among supply chain stakeholders. For instance, Dinh Vu Industrial Zone features an integrated general cargo and liquid cargo port system right inside the park; Nam Dinh Vu Industrial Park is uniquely tied to Northern Vietnam’s seaport system and logistics chain.

In the coming period, Hai Phong will focus on building newly established Industrial Parks and Export Processing Zones modeled after logistics-based industrial parks.

This creates an abundant supply of cargo for local logistics service providers, boosts supply chain efficiency for the entire Northeastern region, and fulfills the gateway role for sea-freight import and export of Northern localities, which is projected to expand steadily in the future.
